Which Bank Statements Do You Need for Business Funding?
A complete statement set lets a funding reviewer work on your actual business instead of chasing missing pages. For LoanQuail's initial review, prepare your signed application and the latest three completed months of business bank statements. A particular lender or product may ask for more.

Start with the latest three completed statement months
Use consecutive, completed statement periods. If you apply during October and your bank issues calendar-month statements, start with July, August and September. An October transaction screenshot does not replace a completed September statement. If your bank closes statements on a different day, use its three latest completed periods and keep the dates visible.
Check the statement's date range rather than the date you downloaded the file. A recently downloaded PDF can still cover an old month. If the newest statement is not available yet, tell your reviewer which period is missing; do not change the dates or substitute an edited document.
Use the account that receives your business income
The account holder, legal business name and DBA should have an understandable connection to the business in your application. Include all three periods for the same revenue account. If sales go into several business accounts, provide a complete set for each and explain which account does what.
If you changed banks, changed the business name, or operate under a DBA, explain that when you apply. A name or account change needs context; it should not be hidden. If you use a personal or joint account for self-employed income, tell us. Personal statements do not substitute for the business statements requested by a business-account program; a reviewer must check whether any appropriate product is available.
Download the original PDF and include every page
Use your bank's statements or documents section to download each monthly PDF. Before uploading, open every file and confirm that the first and last pages are present and readable. Keep the account holder, statement period and account information visible to the reviewer.
Avoid cropped screenshots, accounting-software reports and edited statement pages. If the bank's PDF is password protected, ask your bank how to obtain a reviewable copy; do not send a password in an SMS. Upload financial documents through your application or the private document link provided for your file.
- Three consecutive, completed periods for each relevant business revenue account.
- All pages, including pages with transaction details or no activity.
- Readable bank, account-holder and statement-period information.
- An explanation for a DBA, name change, new bank or additional account.
- The signed application and any additional items specifically requested for your file.
Explain existing financing and unusual deposits
List active advances, loans and credit lines with their provider and payment schedule. If you want to refinance one, provide a current written payoff figure when requested. This helps separate the cash you need for your business from amounts that would pay an existing provider.
Total deposits are not automatically sales revenue. Transfers between your own accounts, loan proceeds, owner contributions and refunds can appear as credits. If one month includes a large unusual deposit, explain its source. Likewise, describe a seasonal dip, a returned payment or an account change rather than trying to improve the appearance of a statement.
What happens after you upload?
Your application and documents give the reviewer a starting point for checking the business, account consistency, cash flow and existing obligations. Providing the documents does not establish approval, an amount or a rate. Requirements and decisions depend on the lender and product.
If you already have a LoanQuail application, use your existing private link to provide the missing month instead of starting a duplicate file. If your review continues into a new month, we may request the newly completed statement. Start with a complete, current set so the next conversation can be about your funding request.
Common questions
Are three months enough for every business loan?
No. Three completed months are LoanQuail's initial statement set. A lender may need four or more months, year-to-date information, tax returns or other records depending on the product and file.
Can I upload the three PDFs together?
Yes. The application accepts multiple documents. Check that each file opens, contains every page and covers a different required period before submitting.
Should I hide the account number or my business name?
The reviewer needs account and holder information to check consistency. Use the application or your private upload link for the requested original statements; do not send sensitive account information in a public chat or email subject.
What if I only have personal bank statements?
Explain how your business receives income and who owns the account. Availability needs individual review; personal statements cannot simply be treated as business-account documents.
Sources and scope
This guide explains document preparation and comparison questions. Availability, requirements and terms depend on the product and lender. An application is a request for review, not an approval or an offer.
